Flat Washers are put under the nut or head of a Bolt during fastening to distribute the pressure over a wider area and provide a flat smooth fastening surface which minimizes the possibility of loosening over time. Flat washers are also used as spacers in common Nut and Bolt assemblies.
Fender washers have a large outside diameter in comparison to the inner hole. This offers a wider surface bearing area that is used in a wide cross section of installations.
